![]() Paizo (Pathfinder) and SmiteWorks (Fantasy Grounds) have long had exactly the 3rd party account syncing that everyone says is impossible with discounts in both directions: It's a minor point, but this aspect of the problem is often overstated on Reddit. not easy to do legally either (because those are 3rd party stores). There are no discounts for owning physical books and there will likely never be any. Sadly you missed a recent sale that was something like 5$ off the total for every book you purchase, and a lot of smaller supplements were under 5$ so they were not just free but a negative on the total. Or are there any sales on Beyond, and how much cheaper I would be able to buy the books then? The only chance would be if WotC ever decided to open a first-party digital store. It's just not profitable for WotC and not easy to do legally either (because those are 3rd party stores). This has been a long cried about issue on the internet ever since DDB and roll20 marketplace were created. Are there any discounts to people who have the physical books? The main reason why DDB might do that would be if they develop their own VTT which has been a rumor for a while.Īlso it kinda sucks that I've bought all the physical books but would need to buy then again on Beyond. That said, DDB could make that data hard to access and prevent acquiring it - or even threaten FoundryVTT to not promote these tools - in which case this sub will follow suit. My guess is that for the most part nobody really cares - WotC gets their money, DDB gets their share - so how you use the data is up to you. That said, terms of service usually specify using the content only on the platform it's bought on. ![]() Legally it's a grey area as you do own the content and it's just as legal for you to enter the content you own into Foundry as it is for you to make written notes - all the import tool does is make things easier for you. I can't answer much for the actual importing process, but some other answers:įor D&DB specifically - to my understanding, they have API that allows export but it is not official that it's meant for you to transfer into a VTT.
